Hypnotherapy
Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness that allows one to bypass the critical factor of the mind (analysis, thoughts/plans, short-term memory) and go straight to the subconscious mind (long-term memory, emotions/feelings, habit/relationship patterns, involuntary functions, creativity and intuition). Hypnotherapy is the process of psychotherapy with a client who is in an altered state of consciousness. Being in this altered state of consciousness often allows the client to do much deeper work, accessing deeper insight and healing.
What is like to be hypnotized? What is hypnosis used for?
The fact is all of us experience states of hypnosis on a regular basis. The most common times we can all relate to are: getting to a destination and not really remembering the drive or being engrossed in a book or the TV and zoning out to everything else around us. In session, hypnosis is simply a state of relaxation that provides the backdrop for more deeply attuned access to your senses and emotions.
I cannot make you do anything embarrassing
while you are under hypnosis. The truth is that you are always in control
of yourself and never “under my control.” Another aspect of hypnosis
under your control is how deeply you choose to experience it; everyone
can be hypnotized, it is just the depth of relaxation that differs from
one person to next.
I use hypnosis to help clients get to the root of their problems, pain and emotional blocks. Often, problems we are currently experiencing are attached to something we experienced or learned in our childhood. Hypnosis is a way to access those past experiences, make connections, heal and move on. However, delving into the past is not a must for using and benefitting from hypnosis. Things hypnotherapy can be used for include, but are not limited to:
- Addictions/Habits
- Weight Loss
- Phobias/Fears
- Stress/Anxiety
- Pain Management (Body/Mind Work)
- Self-Confidence
- Motivation
